Save money, make money!

The UK government has pledged its commitment to building a low carbon economy. Its aim is to engage more individuals, communities, organisations and businesses to be involved in the production of renewable energy by enabling them to generate it for themselves.

As such there are a number of generous financial incentives available, which they hope will encourage uptake of small-scale energy systems. Under these schemes for alternative energy funding you could be eligible to make money on the energy you produce. Not only will this cover your costs but could provide a tax free return of up to 8% on your investment.

Thousands of people across the UK have already woken up to the benefits of renewables and are saving hundreds of pounds a year on their energy bills.

The Feed-in Tariff is available for solar PV, wind, micro hydro-electric, small-scale gas-powered combined heat and power, and anaerobic digestion.

The Renewable Heat Incentive is available for ground source heat pumps, solar thermal and biomass boilers as well as commericial scale processes such as deep geothermal. Air source heat pumps are currently not covered by the scheme but hopefully will be included from 2012.
